Netflix’s long-delayed adaptation Boots = “The Pink Marine” series gets a premiere date!

As a still photographer, I’ve shot everything from indies to blockbusters, but nothing compares to my time on Netflix’s Boots, an eight-episode comedic drama premiering October 9, 2025. Handpicked by Netflix, I captured the sweat, laughs, and heart of this bold series based on Greg Cope White’s The Pink Marine. Set in a 1990s Marine Corps boot camp under "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" rules, it follows closeted teen Cameron Cope and his best friend Ray McAffey as they navigate grueling drills and unexpected bonds. Snapping every raw moment was a career highlight – here’s why I’m bragging about it.
The cast? Electric. Here are the stars who lit up my cameras:
Miles Heizer (Cameron Cope): Known for 13 Reasons Why (Alex Standall) and Parenthood, Heizer delivers vulnerability and fire as the conflicted recruit. His Love, Simon charm shines through, too.
Liam Oh (Ray McAffey): A breakout from The Thing About Harry, Oh’s grounded warmth as Cameron’s loyal pal sparked countless candid shots.
Vera Farmiga (Barbara Cope): The Conjuring and Bates Motel legend plays Cameron’s fierce mom with biting wit. Her Oscar-nominated Up in the Air cred? Just the start.
Max Parker (Drill Instructor): Fresh off Vampire Academy, Parker’s intense, commanding presence as the no-nonsense DI was a set standout.
Directed by Phil Abraham (The Sopranos, Mad Men, Ozark) and Peter Hoar (The Last of Us, It’s a Sin), created by Andy Parker, co-showrun by Jennifer Cecil, and produced with Sony Pictures Television, Boots mixes humor and heart, backed by a killer trailer featuring a George Michael cover. From dawn PT sessions to late-night laughs, I captured the soul of a show that’s equal parts tribute to resilience and defiance of outdated norms. Stay tuned for exclusive behind-the-scenes shots on my site very soon.
Who's binge-watching with me on Oct. 9?!?
